GLP-1 Informed Consent
This educational consent page is not a substitute for the final clinical partner consent workflow.
Purpose
GLP-1 and other metabolic medications may be considered as part of a supervised metabolic health or weight-management program. A licensed clinician determines whether a medication is appropriate for a specific patient.
Possible benefits
Possible benefits may include reduced appetite, improved weight management support, improved metabolic markers for some patients, and a more structured plan when paired with lifestyle and follow-up support. Benefits vary and are not promised.
Common adverse effects
Common adverse effects can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, reduced appetite, and reflux.
Serious or important risks to discuss
Important risks and warnings to discuss with a clinician may include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, dehydration or kidney injury, hypoglycemia risk when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, worsening gastrointestinal disease, possible thyroid C-cell tumor warning for certain medications, and pregnancy or breastfeeding restrictions.
Contraindication screening
Screening should address personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, MEN2, pregnancy, breastfeeding, prior pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal disease, and other medication-specific concerns.
Final consent
Medication-specific warnings must be confirmed by the clinician and pharmacy. This page is not a substitute for actual clinician consent. Final consent must be provided through the clinical partner workflow.
